Bruce Almighty (Cinema: July 2003)

Now being a Jim Carrey fan I have to say that this is a truly hilarious film. At a time when few movies make me laugh out loud this was fantastic. I know what you're thinking grrr Jim Carrey...but after tricking my friend, an-anti Carrey type, into seeing the movie by telling her we were seeing something else, even she had to hold her hands up and said it was good. (She couldn't really do much else as she had spent the last two hours holding her ribs and begging for the laughter to stop).

Carrey plays a normal guy (slightly eccentric) who is a tv anchor man who just doesn't seem to get a break and shouts at god constantly. So God (Morgan Freeman) decides to give him his power and see if he can do better. And this is where the fun begins as Carrey can do anything. One memorable scene sees Carrey asking for an apology from a gang who beat him up. The guy replies, "Yeah, I'll apologise when a monkey flies out of my butt!" - no need to elaborate as you know what happens next.

There really are some hysterical scenes and for once in a Carrey movie it isn't just him being the comedian. I suggest you get down to the flix and have a peep.

Its certainly gonna be an addition to my DVD collection.
